Colin Ong of Great Eastern Wins Inspirational Agents Leader of Year Awards

 The title of the article shouldn’t surprise many as if there’s one name that has ruled the finance industry of Singapore in recent times it’s Colin Ong Lian Jin. Colin is currently the Senior Executive Director of Great Eastern Financial Advisers and is the main man responsible for the rise and rise of the company. So, it was not possible for the organisers of the Asia Trusted Life Agents & Advisers Awards to ignore the man when shortlisting awardees. 

The Journey of Colin Ong 

As a young graduate, Colin was lucky to meet Tan Koon Chuan, who was then the director of Great Eastern Agency. Tan Koon played the role of a perfect mentor for young Colin, who joined the company just after graduating from the National University of Singapore in 1992. 

After learning the basics of the industry from his mentor, Colin started coming up with his own plans and executed them flawlessly. This allowed the company to grow rapidly and become one of the most trusted insurance companies in the country. Within just five years, he became one of the most important names representing Great Eastern. 

After spending around a decade at Great Eastern Colin founded an alliance group named Advisors Clique or AC in 2001. Here, it has to be mentioned that Advisors Clique is not a separate organisation; it operates as a segment of Great Eastern. Setting up of AC is a pathbreaking event not just for Great Eastern, but also for Colin. It allowed him to come up with more effective policies for the company. When AC started, it was a team of just eight individuals. Today, it has grown into a team of as many as 440 members. 

Colin is also known for his philanthropic endeavours. He keeps organising charity events at regular intervals. 

Awards and Recognitions Received by Colin Ong 

The Wins Inspirational Agents Leader of the Year 2017 is not the only big award Colin has received during his illustrious career. His performance and skills have been recognised both by his own company and other companies organising finance awards in Singapore. 

The year 2017 saw him get recognised for promoting 15 directors in 15 years, which is a rare achievement. 

Colin Ong Great Eastern got the Top Group Award from his own company in 2019. He also received the Centennial Award for his contribution to the growth of Great Eastern. This award was given at a ceremony organised to mark the 100th year celebration of the company.
